Energy Star Heat Reflective Asbestos Roof Coating System.
The Energy Star Asbestos Roof Coating System is one of long-term rehabilitation and stabilization. This system does not require high pressure cleaning of the weathered sheet which is now prohibited in Australia. The system utilizes an under-film mould retardant, a penetrating sealer / binder, and highly durable heat reflective elastomeric topcoats. The system penetrates and locks firmly deep within the non-decayed asbestos fibre matrix. Splits, fasteners and flashings are waterproofed and reinforced with polyester matt ensuring a long-term watertight roof. All at a fraction of the cost and disruption of replacement.
Step - 1
Underfilm Mould Retardant.
Astec Barrier is an under-film mould retardant, fungal and algicide wash that is applied to the entire roof to sterilize all growth and forms a residual layer that retards the regrowth of any dormant mould spores beneath the new coating system.
Step - 2
Seal-Bind and Encapsulate
Astec Rivett is a penetrating sealer-binder which is applied in multiple coats to the entire roof until all sterilized contaminants and friable asbestos are fully bound and locked firmly in place. The product penetrates deep within the non-decayed asbestos fibre matrix of the sheet thus restoring the sheet to its near new strength of 2.1 mpa
Step - 3
Waterproof Repairs
Splits, broken flashings and any holes in the sheet are repaired and made waterproof with and elastic waterproofing membrane embedded with polyester reinforcing matt that ensures a positive long term watertight seal to the roof.
Step - 4
Heat Reflective Membrane Coating
Multiple coats of highly durable Energy Star Heat Reflective elastomeric roof coatings are then applied which reflect fully 50% of solar heat by infrared reflection - keeping the roof cool and reflective to sunlight in the extremes of summer.

Best Paint For Asbestos Roof
The best paint for asbestos roof is a crack bridging elastomeric coating with heat reflective properties. These coatings are applied to aged asbestos roof sheet as the final topcoats after the asbestos sheet has been suitably sterilized and had all surface contaminants and friable asbestos bound and locked firmly in place with a penetrating sealer binder.
The Energy Star Asbestos roof coating system utilizes an under-film mould retardant to sterilize all surface growth, a penetrating sealer / binder, and highly durable heat reflective elastomeric topcoats. The system penetrates and locks firmly deep within the non-decayed asbestos fibre matrix. Splits, fasteners and flashings are waterproofed and reinforced with polyester matt ensuring a long-term watertight roof. All at a fraction of the cost and disruption of replacement.
